Overview:
Unify are delighted to be recruiting for an Apprentice Engineer to join an independent Access equipment hire company who are providing a range of diesel, battery, hybrid and LPG Power options to construction and domestic users.
This apprenticeship is an opportunity to learn, work and gain hands on experience of the mechanics, hydraulics, and electronics maintenance behind our fleet of powered access platforms
Core Units
- Adhering to general health and safety standards in the workplace
- Following productive work practices on site
- Handling, moving, and storing resources safely
- Operating equipment or machinery in non-operational roles
- Servicing machinery as required in a workshop or on-site environment
- Replacing worn, damaged, or defective components on machinery
- Dismantling and reassembling machinery parts for maintenance purposes
- Diagnosing issues in machinery systems and components
- Inspecting machinery to ensure readiness for operational tasks
Optional Units(choose two)
- Performing repairs, modifications, and installations using heating, welding, soldering, or thermal cutting techniques
- Creating unique components to restore or maintain machinery
- Installing machinery for active use on site
- Configuring equipment for specific tasks and activities
- Facilitating the handover of machinery control to others
- Conducting specialized tests to assess machinery's operational readiness
Entry Requirements
Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate strong attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions, and a commitment to professionalism. Working conditions may vary, including exposure to both hot and cold environments.
Desired Qualifications: GCSEs in Maths and English, grades 9-4 (or equivalent).
Training Facility
College sessions will be held at a location near the Aylesbury Depot, allowing for convenient access to necessary training and coursework.
Assessment Details
To complete the NVQ qualification, you will need to demonstrate real-world competence across a variety of performance criteria, assessed in the workplace. An experienced, qualified assessor will guide you through each stage of the program.
Pathways After Completion
After achieving the apprenticeship, your assessor will review options for further development. Depending on your current role, you may continue advancing within the field or explore alternative career pathways.
Career Paths
Your role may include site visits or workshop-based tasks where you will work to detailed specifications to service or repair powered access machinery.
Additional Information
During the apprenticeship, you will typically work a minimum of 30 hours per week with your employer, alongside one day each week for college studies or allocated training time. A salary will be provided which covers all aspects of your training.
